Sound Control Panel : Fix Audio issue Using Sound Setting

Sound control PanelSound Control Panel consist of all sound settings on your computer to troubleshoot and fix audio problem, change volume, add or remove input and output sound devices, turn on and of sound.

Open Sound Control Panel on Windows 10

To open sound control panel on windows 10 or 11, use any of the below method

From Secret Start Menu

  1. Press Windows +X key
  2. Click on Settings and and then system
  3. Click on Sound to open Sound control panel.

From Start Menu

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. And then open the Control Panel.
  3. Click on the Hardware & Sound option.
  4. Select the Sound to open Sound Control Panel

Using Windows Settings

  1. Press the Windows + I keys.
  2. Click on the System and then Sound to open sound control panel.

From Control panel

  1. Press the Windows key, type Control Panel, and click on Open.
  2. Then Set the View by as Category and select Hardware and Sound setting.
  3. Click Sound to open Sound Control Panel.

Using Run Command

  1. Press Windows + R keys together to launch the Run dialog box.
  2. Then type mmsys.cpl and press the Enter key.

From File Explorer

  1. Press Windows + E keys simultaneously to open File Explorer.
  2. Go to the following location path from the address bar: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound

Using Settings

  1. Press Windows + R Key to open Command Prompt
  2. Type ms-settings:sound and press enter
  3. Sound Settings will open

Manage input output devices

To manage the sound on Windows, follow these instructions:

  • Open the sound control panel.
  • To manage Output sound device , select “Output” section, click the “Choose output device” setting.
  • To manage input sound device, select “Input” section, click on the “Manage Devices” option.
  • With advanced sound settings, set the application’s volume.

Fix Sound or Audio issue

Sound Issues

  • No sound from computer
  • Sound is turned off
  • low audio from computer or laptop
  • No Sound driver issue
  • No audio device detected

Fix

Open Sound control Panel and Run audio troubleshooter as it will fix all sound related issue without any manual intervention.

If you still face issue you can check manually resolve issue without audio troubleshooter as well.

What you do with Sound Control Panel?

A windows control panel to change to your sound settings, such as:

  • Adjust Sound Volume: You can increase or decrease sound volume by just moving scroll left or right respectively.
  • Change Sound System: You can control the sound of your PC, so you can select the following options from the list to enable the sound.
  • Manage Audio Devices: You can manage the sound of each playback audio device and modify the audio settings. Open “Quick Settings” (Windows key + A keyboard shortcut), and select “Manage audio devices”.
  • Change the default output device: You can change default sound device from output tab, from options “choose where to play sound” or “Pair a new output device
  • Manage Input Devices : To connect input devices such as microphone, Select this option and follow quick steps> “choose a device for speaking and recording” or “Pair a new input device
  • Troubleshoot audio problems : Run audio troubleshooter to resolve sound problems.
